The student directory provided at this site is intended to help you get connected with friends while respecting your privacy.  It is open to all previous students regardless of official graduation from a degree program.  To keep the cost of operations and administration low, the site does not provide discussion services such as forums or chat or general posting areas.  Links to existing Ambassador community sites with conversation features are provided.
Here are some of the features:

  • Private Directory Listings - viewable only by other site members - they are not indexed by search engines or available to the general public.
  • Moderated User Registrations - each user registration must be reviewed and approved before it is added to the directory.
  • Self Moderating - site members can report when the conduct of others on the site violates the site's user agreement or privacy policy.
  • Private Email Addresses - email addresses are not exposed to the public or to other site members.  A member wishing to contact another member does so using a web form.  The web form does not reveal the email address of the member being contacted.
  • Links to Community Sites - the purpose of this site is to help people locate each other.  Although forums are not provided directly, links to established Ambassador community sites are listed.
  • Have You Seen Support - in your profile you can enter a list of names of people you are looking to get in touch with.  Everyone can browse the list of those who are being sought and can send an email to the seeker via the mail form in their profile.
  • Reuion Organization - in your profile you can enter the details of a planned reunion.  Everyone can browse the list of reunions and can send an email to the organizer via the mail form in their profile.

Why should you register here as well, when you can find Ambassador Alumni groups on Facebook, MSN and many other social networking sites?

If you are really into social networking on the internet, you are well aware that AmbassadorUniversity.com cannot be your only social networking site - the below is intendd to outline the benefits of creating and maintaining an AmbassadorUniversity.com profile in addition to other global social networking sites you participate in.

  • Your AmbassadorUniversity.com profile allows you to indicate the other social networking sites you are on so that you do not have to completely replicate information from those sites into your AmbassadorUniversity profile.
  • AmbassadorUniversity.com maintains several helpful indexes of Alumni that are not currently replicated at other social networking sites - lists by maiden name and current location are examples.
  • AmbassadorUniversity.com uses people's real names rather than screen names.  It also encourages members to list the name they would have been known by at Ambassador - so that you do not have to be up to date on married name changes to find them.
  • AmbassadorUniversity.com is easy to find using search engines - some, but not all, social networking sites allow their groups to be found via internet searches.
  • The email traffic from AmbassadorUniversity.com is low.  We send out quarterly mailings - not daily mailings and no marketing.

For those not inclined to participate in the global, public social networking phenomenon, AmbassadorUniversity.com provides a much more limited scope for connecting with Ambassador Alumni.   Social networking sites have improved their privacy features dramatically - but you still have to ignore or reject friend requests if you want to use them for a single purpose.
